The email I sent to my dancers...
I started rehearsal with 3 people.
Granted there was confusion about the location so 5-10 mins. late was acceptable, BUT 25-30 mins. late is NOT. Also, not letting me know you are running late is NOT acceptable. I may be your friend outside of rehearsal, but I have to ask you all to respect me enough to show up on time and for some reason if you can not, text me and let me know that too! There are a few individuals who I had told to join us when they can, which because of their schedule is either because they have work or school, but everyone else should have been there as close to 5 as possible.
It is pointless in naming who was "bad" today at rehearsal. But I want you all to know that I was furious as I rushed out to go to my other rehearsal. I understand that the material is a lot to throw at you all, but this means EVERYONE must show up to EVERY rehearsal, because otherwise we spend more time reviewing than progressing.
Also, I come prepared and I expect you all to as well. Before we started rehearsing, I pulled two individuals aside and warned them that they have to be willing to focus. If they could not, I had to warn them numerous times, I would kick them out of my piece. They have been the least of my worries. I will not think twice about kicking people out of my piece. Even if that means I end up doing a solo for 6 mins. I want you to know that I felt COMPLETELY disrespected today and frustrated. There will not be another day like today.
I can not put up with bullshit. If you want to joke around and talk and laugh while I am going over choreography, please pull out of my piece. I am taking this very seriously, and I can understand that some of you don't, but do not be a part of my piece if you can not handle this work ethic. I do NOT have to agree with you backing out of my piece, but if you can not handle what I ask of you, please write me back and let me know.
Otherwise, I will see whoever can make it tomorrow at 2pm in the PE dance studio. If you can not make it at 2, come in when you can and quietly pick up where we are. Do NOT cause a scene and distract people. I am NOT a babysitter, so please stop making me treat you all like children. I expect more out of you all.
